Tips for hitting the ground running:

Gather your ideas -- look through magazines and assemble a file of things you like

Make working decisions on appliances  -- shop ahead.  For some items feasibility considerations will have a bearing on choices, but you will still be far ahead by pre-shopping!
On our first visit we will discuss:

  • What you are wanting to do.
  • What your needs are.
  • Evaluating the space for feasability, function, cost effectiveness, and structural possibilities.
  • All the options: appliances, plumbing, lighting, cabinetry, countertops, backsplash, flooring, wall finishes, trim and hardware, work centers
  • Permitting, licensing and building code issues.
  • The process of the remodeling project -- its components.
  • The remodeling project flow and sequence.
  • Time frame, emotional investment and expectations.
  • Products and resources and send you out with your assignment to choose appliances, plumbing and lighting fixtures, hardware, cabinet styles, countertops, trim, flooring, wall finishes and colors. 
  • The design process, suggestions for an a designer or architect if needed.
  • Lastly, we will get measurements.
